Tomato Rasam

Rasam goes very well with rice!!

INGREDIENTS:
Tomato chopped- 4 no
Tuar dal- 4 tsp
Whole red chili- 3 no
Whole black paper- 5 no
Cumin seeds- 1/4tsp
Ginger, chopped- 1 inch pc
Green coriander leaves- 1 tsp
Salt, as required
Water- 5 cups
Oil- 2tbsp
Mustard seeds- ½ tsp
Hing, a pinch
Curry leaves- 6 no

METHOD:
Boil dal in a pressur cooker with 5 cups of water.
Strain water in a bowl. This water will form the base of rasam.
Roast whole red chili, black pepper & cumin seeds together. Blend all this together with ginger.
Add this spice mixture to the tomato. Add this water base & pressure cook again.
Strain the mixture in a bowl. This mixture is our rasam.
For tempering, heat oil in a pan. Add all the ingredients of tempering.
Add salt. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Rasam is cooked in different ways. This is my way of making it!
